This 3-step check-in will help you post with purpose, grow your visibility, and connect faster—without burning out.
MAKE THE CONNECTION
Every new month is a fresh opportunity—but most people just keep scrolling.
They don’t pause to look at what’s actually working.
They keep creating content from scratch… when the answers are already in their own analytics.
If you’re posting consistently on LinkedIn and not sure what’s landing, tools like Shield can help you zoom out and see the patterns.
If you’ve never used it before—Shield is a personal analytics dashboard for LinkedIn creators. It shows you what content is driving engagement, growth, and conversations so you can double down on what works (and ditch what doesn’t). No more guesswork.
This week, I’m breaking down my 3-step monthly content check-in. This is how I help clients make decisions, not just posts.
1
Step 1: What actually landed last month?
Go into your LinkedIn dashboard (or Shield if you’re using it) and look at: Top-performing posts by comments. Most shared or saved content. Posts that generated real conversation (DMs count!)You don’t need 100 data points. You need 3 insights you can act on.
2
Step 2: Spot the hidden patterns
Look at your top 5 posts. What themes keep showing up? Were they: Personal stories? Tactical tips? Client wins? Vulnerable moments? These aren’t just “good posts”—they’re signals. Your next 4–5 posts should build on these.
3
Step 3: Tie visibility to value
Organic reach isn’t just free exposure. It’s earned trust. So ask yourself: Did my content create connection or just consumption? If I had to double down on one type of post, which one is building momentum. What platform feature (newsletter, featured section, comments) can I better leverage next? And if you’re using a tool like Shield: Check your EMV (earned media value)
Track your follower growth
Test a new format if things are flat
Reminder: Your personal brand is not a guessing game.
The data is telling you what your audience wants. Your job is to listen, then lead.
“74% of buyers choose the company whose leadership shows up with a clear personal brand and a strong point of view.”

Ask Yourself This:
What’s one content format or theme I should do more of next month—and what should I stop doing completely?
Small shifts = exponential visibility.
Make the connection. Keep it simple. And show up with strategy.
With you in momentum,
Melanie Borden
